Okay, I saw the 2 part finale of Monk and I have to say they did end it well. Usually, what I have found was a great show would have a final episode that is so outrageous or just plain dumb you really think they didn't bother to try their best at writing it.
Monk on the other hand, was really well written. In my previous post I stated that I wanted the whole season to be about Trudy’s death, but the way they tied in the Xmas gift from her to the reason of her death was really creative. I mean, the gift was sitting there on top of his shelve for 12 years and was the key to the murderer and why she died, that was good writing.
I felt they tied in happy endings for all the main chars, Natalie has a main squeeze now, The Captain is happily married, Randy & Sharona is an item(which I totally called before Sharona even left the show!!) and Monk has someone to really love now.
When I saw the dog episode and knowing the point of that episode was that Monk needed a family I didn’t know where they were going to pull that one from but he did end up having someone to care for in the end. I was not sure if they were really going to let Monk die. I mean deep down I probably knew there was no way he was going to die and be with Trudy but I kept thinking ‘what if they actually let him die?’ that would have been something.
Overall, I think they did a great job ending the show.
